I'm wondering if this is ongoing? I usually take my car on weekend, but went to take the A train on 207th and  it was closed, had to take a shuttle bus to 168th street.

ANyone know why?

I read the other thread and see its happening for 3 weeks, but it seems like it happens alot.

On 7/15/08 I quoted a Manhattan Times article:

Quote
According to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, there are at least 10 more weekends of disruptions, and five to ten weekends scheduled in 2009. In an e-mailed response to questions, MTA spokesperson Deirdre Parker said: “Both tracks are out so that we can do more work and affect fewer weekends and do multiple projects at the same time. (With one track open, we could only run a train every half hour. We can run the shuttle bus every 3-5 minutes.) The work being done includes track replacement, tunnel lighting and structural rehabilitation.”

This was the worst weekend I've ever had with dealing with the shuttle.  Delays, delays, delays.

That's odd; I used shuttle three times (once Sat., twice Sunday) and was pleasantly surprised at what a pain in the butt is WASN'T. Not trying to be a contrarian, that's just how it was for me.

It was definitely the worst weekend for taking the train uptown for me.  I waited a half hour on both Saturday and Sunday nights around 9pm for an A train (since I was going to 162nd).

Just hike up the hill from Dyckman. It's not that bad a climb.

If you mean it will suck for downtowners, that's for certain. They can take the #4 bus right to Margaret Corbin Circle, though.

I'm just going to take the 1 train instead. Can't deal with the shuttle. I may take a cab with my neighbours going downtown, we'll split. $20 to 86th street.

Also the RIverdale Express bus is having major problems on the weekend, last weekend, I waited 2 hours for it and it never showed up. I gave up and took the 1 train.

It looks like the train is running again since the signs have all been taken down at 181 and the subway entrance is no longer blocked off.

A-train service up here is horrible, most of the time.

A train is terrible on the weekend even when it is running, but the 1 runs surprisingly well on weekends and every 5 minutes or so!

It looks like local trains but no shuttle bus on the A this weekend, then back to shuttle buses the next two weekends.

You can sign up for the MTA weekend summary e-mail, and I also recommend checking the weekend summary on the website.  Be sure to read the dates on each paragraph, as they typically have updates for two weekends posted at a time.

It appears we don't have to contend with the shuttle this weekend but the A is running local as the C is not running; Brooklyn bound A trains are running on the F line from W4 to Jay St.
