The HOPE program also participates in and conducts annual recreational activities for the Latino LGBTQ community. UPTOWN PRIDE, another HOPE program, is a six-week peer education training group for LGBTQ youth ages 14-21 that focuses on HIV prevention and LGBTQ support.

The Fort Washington Men's Shelter is a 200-bed facility with three psychiatric treatment centers on site. They offer psychiatric and nursing care, clinical case management, group and individual counseling, recreational activities, entitlements advocacy, vocational services and housing referrals. Every resident is expected to visit a psychiatrist while at the facility. Case managers work alongside clients to help them achieve their therapeutic goals. The recreation department offers a variety of activities, such as movie screenings, leisure trips, games, sports, music, arts and crafts. A primary care medical clinic provides basic health services, including physical exams, medical evaluations, TB tests, treatment services and referrals. A clean-and-sober dorm is offered to clients who actively maintain their sobriety. A stipend program is available for clean-and-sober residents who pursue their individualized treatment goals. Also provided: vocational support group, three meals daily, gym, two recreation rooms, barber shop, laundromat.

Funded by the New York State Department of Health's AIDS Institute, Project STAY provides comprehensive medical and psychosocial services to high-risk and HIV-positive youth between the ages of 12 and 24. For example, services include screening and treatment for sexually transmitted infections and HIV counseling and testing. For those youth who are HIV-positive, sensitive, developmentally appropriate medical and psychosocial care is available. Project STAY is housed in the same clinical facility as the Community Health and Education Program's Family Planning and Young Men's Clinic.

STARS is a nonprofit service that is part of the NYS Psychiatric Institution and Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center. It offers free and confidential treatment in a research setting for individuals having problems with substance abuse issues, including heroin, cocaine, marijuana and alcohol use.

Young Men's Clinic at New York-Presbyterian Edit Record

The clinic also provides STI and HIV testing and treatment. Young men can learn about birth control methods and male involvement in pregnancy planning and prevention. Free condoms are provided. The cost if free if the patient is under 19 years old and no more than $20 if the patient is 19-29 years old. Provides services regardless of insurance status. Short-term mental health counseling is also provided. The staff is fully bilingual in Spanish and English. Registration occurs on Mondays at 4:30 p.m., Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m. and Fridays at 12:30 p.m. Patients can come to the clinic on a walk-in basis; no appointment is needed.
