Local artist Marshall Douglas is putting together a multimedia art project off-off-Broadway and is looking for artists who work in projected light to participate. Artists who work in nonconventional video or film may also be included. As long as projected images form a strong part of the presentation, other components can be in the mix. Poetry, for example. For that matter, any creative use of light will be considered.
Works of ten to twenty minutes are sought. These will be packaged under one admission and presented on a regular, ongoing schedule four nights a week. The show will be marketed under a common name; but every few weeks one of the components will change.
To be considered, each artist’s work must present a unified performance; it can’t just be a collection of images. The intention is to offer our audience respite, even escape, from their worldly pressures. Your performance should be accessible for general adult audiences — not overly abstruse. While intensity isn’t ruled out, the project intends to avoid presentations that are optically aggressive or that have controversial content.
Mr. Douglas is also looking for musicians who can provide live soundtrack accompaniment in solo or small-group configurations. The requirements for this will vary according to the needs of each visual artist.
If you have any interest, please don’t hesitate to contact Marshall Douglas at getshown@yahoo.com or 212-923-8631.
