Uptown Arts Stroll 2004 — Poster Contest

By Webmaster
4 March 2004

The second Uptown Arts Stroll is scheduled for June 2004. The Uptown Arts Stroll Committee is sponsoring a poster contest for the event. The winning design will be developed into a poster and other promotional materials for the upcoming event. The poster will include a design credit. The winner will also receive an honorarium.

Poster designs should reflect the spirit of the Uptown Arts Stroll and conform to the physical specifications described below. Artists are encouraged to use creative approaches to the project. Designs may include graphic elements, painting, collage or any other reproducible media. Typography should be included, sketched, or specified in enough detail that placement of all poster information is clear.

THE SPIRIT OF THE UPTOWN ARTS STROLL

The Uptown Arts Stroll is an opportunity for businesses and artists in Washington Heights and Inwood to work together to transform the community into an art gallery. On November 23, the previous Arts Stroll saw local merchants and institutions host local artists’ exhibitions, and other local artists opened their studio doors to the community to showcase work in this creative neighborhood. More than 50 venues showed artists’ work. The success of that event has led Community Board 12 and its collaborators to increase the publicity for the Arts Stroll and make it a regular event to draw arts patrons from all over the city.

Designs will be evaluated by a panel of artists and administrators from the Arts Stroll Committee.
