The Morris-Jumel Mansion Museum will be sponsoring a Drama Camp for kids 8 to 13 years old, as part of their Welcome Mat Workshop series.

Weekdays, August 2-13
9 a.m. - 1 p.m. each day
Performance on Saturday, August 14

Did you know the Morris-Jumel Mansion was one of George Washington’s Revolutionary War headquarters? In Daughter of Liberty: A True Story of the American Revolution, heroine Wyn Mabie goes on a mission to help General Washington win the war! This is a true story written by renowned children’s author Dr. Robert Quackenbush, a descendent of Wyn Mabie, and takes place at the Morris-Jumel Mansion in 1776.

Children participating in this special Welcome Mat Workshop will work with MJM educators and Washington Heights/Inwood library staff to read the book and create an interactive, experimental theatre piece based on Wyn’s adventure at the MJM. Participants will present their performance on Saturday, August 14th in the early evening.

The drama camp is FREE of charge, but participants must be committed to full participation to be accepted into the program.

For more information please speak with MJM Education Director Loren Silber at 212-923-8008.
